Local and regional sustainability

Sustainability - the topic of one current ISSP project - is the buzzword of the decade.

When addressed at a local or regional level, sustainability implies a geographical identity and a systemic conjunction of interests, which challenges the functionality of existing administrative boundaries and governing communities.

The ISSP sustainability project aims to enable and facilitate an insightful conversation and a visioning process of sustainable futures at a regional level among scientists, policy makers and stakeholder groups integrating best available science and praxis.

It promotes a better understanding of the relationship between sustainable development and multi-level multi-stakeholder governance and provides public and corporate policy recommendations in order to improve local and regional governance.
